PROJECTS/PROGRAMS

1.   HOSPICE/LODGING FACILITY &
DIAGNOSTIC CENTER

BCT acquired a 4.7 acre piece of land in Foxdale (between Chudleigh and Chamba Valley) from the Ministry of Lands to build a Hospice/Lodging Facility and Diagnostic Center.

The Center will cater to all Cancer patients and families by providing accommodation to patients from outside the capital who go for treatment at the Cancer Diseases Hospital.  Free or Low cost diagnostic services will help under-priviledged women and patients access life-saving screenings at the center.   The Hospice will provide palliative care by trained staff to ensure there is dignified end of life.

We are now accepting donations for architectural services for the design of the facility.

2.  OUTREACH

The Trust's campaign continues with a desire to recruit and train counseling providers in provincial centers.  This training program will help create awareness on cancer to our rural communities, who we feel should not be left out in our crusade.  It is in these areas that the percentage of illiteracy and ignorance with regard to cancer awareness is prevelent.

As a start, BCT was launched in Mufulira and Mpongwe and now has representation in Kafue.  Our biggest challenge has been a lack of transportation to reach remote areas of the country.  Currently we depend on vehicles from volunteers and survivors.
