Founder & Chairperson
Breakthrough Cancer Trust

Breakthrough Cancer Trust Chairperson Ursula Hickey died
February 14th, 2003.  She died in a Cape Town hospital in South Africa
after bravely battling breast cancer for a few years.

Mrs Hickey was survived by her husband Errol Hickey,
owner of Radio Phoenix and their daughter Joanna.

She was instrumental in the formation of Breakthrough
Cancer Trust and her vision was to mitigate the suffering of
cancer patients.

Before her death, Mrs Hickey officiated at the handover of
an exclusive cancer Ward B21 at the University Teaching
Hospital. The ward was rehabilitated by BreakthrougCancer  Trust.

All BCT functions in the past were usually characterized by hugs, kisses
and laughter, but this event was one marred with tears.
Mrs Hickey who had been away for treatment abroad
was not going to miss this occasion for anything regardless
of her frail condition, afterall this was her vision!
